4-(fluorophenyl) benzoic acid, also known as 4-(4-dimethylaminophenyl) azobenzoic acid, is an organic compound. Its chemical formula is C17H16N4O2.

4-(br) benzoic acid is an orange-yellow to red crystal, soluble in acidic solutions and organic solvents, slightly soluble in water.
Use:
This compound is often used in the preparation of pH indicators, pigments and dyes in chemical laboratories. It can be used to determine the presence of copper ions, cadmium ions, chloride ions and the change of pH value.
Preparation Method:
A common preparation method is to perform a coupling reaction between benzenesulfonyl chloride and 4-dimethylaminoaniline, and then perform a deprotection reaction and an acylation reaction to finally obtain the target compound.
